Errol Flynn Filmhouse
I recently relocated my life from London to the seemingly sleepy town of Northampton. That may seem like a step back for people, you know, leaving the film capitol of the country. But I had good intentions working on this website. Unfortunately, leaving London meant that I’ll be leaving being some of the greatest cinemas I know; The Prince Charles, Genesis and Aubin are all so far away from me now *wipes tear.*
Luckily for me, Northampton isn’t bereft off independent cinemas. Although the Sixfields Cineworld was my childhood cinema (I saw the Pokémon movie there, good times,) I took my first Northampton cinema trip as a film blogger to the Errol Flynn Filmhouse.

Errol Flynn Filmhouse is sparkling new. In fact, it was made only two months ago on June 20 2013 to commemorate Errol Flynn’s birthday. The Australian Flynn made his stage debut at the Royal Dernsgate Theatre in Northampton before making his fame in Hollywood. In tribute to the brilliant actor, a bunch of cinema fans and supports banded together to create the beautiful Errol Flynn Filmhouse which now sits attached to the theatre itself.
Errol Flynn Filmhouse is a very small but beautiful cinema. Only 90 seats and one screen, there are limited screenings. But do not fear because those films are great. I recently caught Drake Doremus’ Breathe In. If you are a fan of independent, foreign or non mainstream movies then the Errol Flynn Filmhouse has just the right movies for you. From Frances Ha to Blackfish, you can enjoy a whole host of films here and events. And I am also informed that screenings of cult movies are on their way so really, there is something for everyone who loves cinema. That should really be everyone here, right?

As I’ve written about with Genesis and The Prince Charles Cinema, I much prefer a great cinema experience. And Errol Flynn Filmhouse offers one of the best in Northamptonshire. The staff are an absolute pleasure and were friendly, waiting to give excellent service to everyone. It was amazing to walk in and see a smile on their faces. There is a lovely seating area to chill in the summer sun and enjoy some beverages before the movie. The food and drink is at a great price, incredibly tasty too. You should really check out the cookies. They are full of nom.
But it is the screen that is beautifully impressive. Although it isn’t the biggest in the land, it is full of comfort. They have reclining leather seats that are insanely cosy with a little table next to your arm rest to put your drinks. There is plenty of room for big bums and long legs. And when they say the film starts at 8.30, the film starts at 8.30 sharp. If you want to miss the trailers, then you can, they screen them fifteen minutes before the show.

While your visit may be short, it is certainly sweet. There is great offers for senior citizens, families and food free screenings so your experience isn't ruined by popcorn munchers. It truly is a stunning little gem in the heart of Northampton, if you really love cinema in the Midlands, it is definitely worth going to. There is nothing better in this world then going to a cinema that is full of greatness with everything. So go to the Errol Flynn Filmhouse for a magnificent and stunning film experience.
